What does the process with Lice Fairies look like?

Once you book an appointment, the magic begins! You'll receive a confirmation of your Lice Fairy’s arrival along with pre-appointment instructions.

Your assigned Lice Fairy will come to your home and conduct a thorough lice check to determine who in your household has lice. If lice are found, they will begin the removal process while also educating you about lice prevention and care. Here are some general timelines for a lice check and removal: 

• Lice Check: 10-15min/head
• Light Case of Lice: 1hr/head
• Moderate Case of Lice: 1 - 2.5hrs/head
• Serious Case of Lice: 3+hrs/head

By the end of your appointment, your heads will feel better, you'll know exactly what to wash, and you'll learn how to check your family for lice in the future. Plus, you'll receive a complimentary mini lice kit for follow-up combing and future checks!

How do I know if I/my family member has lice?

Lice are best diagnosed by combing through the hair with a lice comb, but here are some common symptoms to watch for:

• Itchy scalp
• Red rash on the back of the neck
• Small brown bugs crawling on the scalp – They’re tiny and can be hard to spot!
• Tiny brown "nits" (lice eggs) attached to hair strands – These are almost impossible to see without a lice comb, which is why our comb is so helpful!

Can lice live on pillows, furniture, or clothes?

Lice only survive on the human scalp—they can’t burrow into or lay eggs on any other surface. If they accidentally fall off your head, they will only live for 24-48 hours since they lose access to their warm, humid environment and food source. To be safe, we recommend:

• Washing bed sheets and any clothes or hats worn in the last two days
• Freezing hairbrushes for 24 hours

Beyond that, you don’t need to worry about deep-cleaning your home—lice want to stay on your head!
